In Memory of Ernst Beyeler
With the death at the age of 88 years, of the gallerist, art trader and collector switzerland lost a known personality. His sense for the constant within art, his eye for the quality as well as his commitment, contributed a lot to the internation world of art. His special way to understand art tradings and his active engagement made him a role model within the art dealing circles. We will remember Ernst Beyeler with the highest respect, just the way he treated his artists, collectors and colleagues.
Did You Say Art?
Bern, October 16th 2009 - A consolidation of the awareness for the cultural life in our country and a central role of culture in the swizz politics overall is recommendet by aproximately sixty experts in the report "Cultural Diversity - more than just a slogan".
Workshop on Labor Law in Practice

In each company as well as galleries, the labor agreement as well as its law play a central role. Dr. Hans Furer and lic. iur Barbara Pfister speak in a two-hour workshop about this important topic.
Creative Economy Switzerland / Data.Design.Scene
Study by Christoph Wekerle, Mared Gerig and Michael Söndermann
Together with a study group, including the association of art galleries in Switzerland, the authors published a report on the current situation of the "creative economy" in Switzerland. The 160-paged work was published by Birkhäuser. It can be orderd from the publishing house for CHF 79,00. The publication tries to give an overview of the concepts and features of the building blocks of the industry. An analysis of the national and international discourse was made and conclusions were drawn regarding the discussion in Switzerland. The art market got 5 pages (out of 13 partly markets). The analysis was extremly valueable and can show the dynamics of the creativ economy - if one wants to intensly deal with it.
Resale Right won't be Introduced in Switzerland
The parlament concluded the revision of the copyright law. The resale right has explicitly not been taken into account. The topic has been touched right in the beginning of the law revision. The final report of a working group, put in place by the art-dealings, can be found in the following link.

Switzerland as a Guest of Honor at the KIAF 2008
From September 19th - 23rd 2008 the art fair KIAF will take place in Seoul (Korea). The swizz galleries is guest of honour. 19 galleries have applied for participation. The Association of Art Galleries in Switzerland nominated Mister Giovanni Carmine, director of the exibition halls St. Gallen, for this job.
